Zipolite Beach, Dining

Zipolite, Oaxaca's
Pacific Coast beach will offer solitude and quality
hammock time with not much else to do but watch the sunrise, swim,
beach comb, nap in the mid day, and dine on fish.  Sunset is an important
event at Zipolite and then it is time to dine.

Not many options was once the case but now there are several places
where you can dine on fresh grilled Dorado while sipping Margaritas by
candlelight.

Several beach side hotels and posadas offer dining right on the beach and
a few others are located on side streets just off the main pedestrian street.

  • Piedra el Fuego
For a fish dinner, try Piedra el Fuego.  In an open kitchen the cook will grill
fish, barbeque style,  over a wood fire, after smearing on a marinade.
(optional)
The atmosphere is no frills but the food is plentiful, tasty, and reasonable:
80 pesos for grilled Red Snapper.

  • La Providencia
Just next door on the same side street is the La Providencia,  a beautiful
interior and an elegant, varied menu.

  • Lo Cosmico
Lo Cosmico on the west end of the main street receives high praise
because of its atmosphere, menu, location, right on the beach,  and quiet.

  • A Nice Place On The Beach
After a morning sunrise beach run  try breakfast at, "A Nice Place On The
Beach" where you can get three fred eggs, Canadian bacon, home fries,
toast and coffee for 50-60 pesos.
