From Zipolite you can take the coastal bus south to Huatulco or north to  
Zicatela Beach, home of the Mexican Pipe-Line and its more party-ready
town of
Puerto Escondido. Still remote compared to the Mexican Riviera's
Acapulco and Puerto Valarta, Escondido offers rental equipment, tour
attractions, ecotours to lagoons, nightclub happy hours, luxury hotels, and
beaches.

Breakfast $4.50USD, Pancakes, fruit, and coffee, Dinner: $6.50 grilled
Dorado, Guacamole, tostadas steamed vegetables.  (except at Christmas

South on Route 200 to
Huatulco will offer upscale resorts as well as
bargain lodging along with 33 beaches and nine bays.  The budget lodging
is in the town of La Crucecita.
Taxis and collective cabs provide transportation to the beaches where you
can find surfing on ocean beaches and snorkeling, diving and boat tours in
sheltered bays.
La Crucecita's restaurants offer inexpensive breakfasts and afternoon menus
of Grilled Mahi-Mahi, Braised Beef and traditional foods.

From Huatulco you can get a bus or flight to the
City of Oaxaca (warm
clothing required at night, these cities are in the mountains) and then Mexico
City, or travel north by bus along the coast to Acapulco.  
Fish and fruit come to the markets in abundance, the temperature hovers at
86, you'll find bus service efficient and inexpensive, and the lodging
reasonable and except for Christmas time and Easter,  readily available.

To Reach Zipolite Beach,
From The Bus Station At
Pochutla.
Plenty of cabs are available in
Pochutla
If you group with others you can
split the fee and save,  The trip fee
is the same regardless of the
number of  passengers.

Another option is the collective cab
called
Camioneta (explained), a
pickup truck with a covered rear
bed that makes frequent stops and
charges a small fee.

few blocks west.
Three Different Bus Routes
reach the area of Zipolite,
Puerto Escondido, Mazunte,
and Huatulco on Oaxaca's
Pacific Coast.

ADO, First Class service (OCC
Bus) reaches Pochutla via
Huatulco.  The route then goes
Northwest along the coast to
Puerto Escondido
Second Class buses run over
Route 175 and Route 135,
making more direct runs over
the mountains to Pochutla and
Puerto Escondido

Juchitan and Salina Cruz are
also first class transportation
hubs for trips to San Cristobal
de las Casas and Palenque
Oaxaca's Zipolite Beach can be
reached by Bus.
First Class Bus service leaves the
first class terminal in Oaxaca City for
Huatulco and then Pochutla. (10 hours)
not as much mountain driving

Second Class bus service leaves
Oaxaca City's Second Class terminal
and goes over the mountains to Puerto
Escondido or to Pochutla.  (8 hours)
Difficult mountain driving

Van service makes a run to Pochutla.
(6 hours)
The mountain driving can be tough on
those prone to motion sickness.  
medicine is recommended for those
taking the vans and for those particularly
sensitive to motion sickness who will
take the bus.

listed may decrease as sections of the highway
are completed)
Transportation to Zipolite
Zipolite's one-street village will
keep you as tenuously connected to
the outside world as you want to be
with an Internet café and weekend
disco and a few good restaurants.  
Otherwise, there is not much but
beach
Reach Mazunte and Puerto Angel's beaches
nearby by taxi or Camioneta which picks up and
drops off passengers all along Calle Principal, the
road that runs parallel to the beach,
Playa Panteon in Puerto Angel gives you the
most relaxed swimming beach and a modern hotel
with snorkel tours, scuba diving, and sightseeing boat
tours leaving from the beach.
Zipolite can also be reached by air from Oaxaca's airport (OAX) to Puerto
Escondido or Huatulco and then from bus southeast along the coast to
Pochutla. from
there a short  (6 mile)taxi or collective Camioneta ride reaches Zipolite.

A second class bus runs also and
covers the forty miles in about 90
minutes or less
You can ask the driver of the second
class or local bus to let you off at the
Zipolite/ Mazunte crossroads and
then  catch a collective Camioneta
from there to Mazunte/Zipolite or
you can stay on the bus until you
reach Pochutla

Collective cabs also run between
Pochutla and Puerto Escondido.
