buy fillets from the ladies that clean
the fish each day.  The boats start
coming in about 7:00 AM
The men pull the nets and then the wives
and families of the fishermen  fillet the fish
or send them to the restaurants whole

How to Get There
From the Zocalo go 8 blocks north and three blocks east to Llano Park  They are in the building housing the Theatre.
Buses leave Oaxaca's first class ADO terminal   (OCC Bus)   bound for Huatulco. Pochutla and Puerto
Escondido

Buses leave Oaxaca City's second class terminal for Pochutla and Puerto Escondido.
Collectivos (camionetta) in Pochutla make runs to Mazunte, Puerto Angel, and Zipolite beaches.
Local buses run along the coast road and connect all the coastal towns of Huatulco, Pochutla, and Puerto
Escondido.

Vans serve for a 6 hour run over the mountains

Air Service reaches Puerto Escondido from Oaxaca City, (OAX)  and Mexico City

fleet that moors in the harbor and
brings its fish to the beach-side
restaurants starting around 7:00
AM.
Other small groups fish out of the
cove Puerto Angelito.

On Playa Principal the fishing
families clean the fish and prepare
them for the markets and
restaurants.
Oaxaca Mexico has several great beaches including Puerto
Escondido's  famed surfing beach, Zicatela.  The November
National Championships  are held on what is called the Mexican
Pipeline.  Nightlife and beach dining is offered at Play Principal.

Much of the fishing is done
with baited hooks set
overnight on long lines.  
The fishermen go out early
to pull the lines and they
bring the fish to the dock
starting around 8:00 am.
Fish continue to come into
the beach and dock area
until mid afternoon.
The fish go directly to the
restaurants after cleaning.  
Some fish goes to distant  
markets via trucks.
The treat is to dine at sunset on the beach at the many restaurants
serving grilled fish.  Red Snapper is served whole or filleted.  Grilled
Dorado with garlic served with guacamole, salad, rice.$6.00 USD and
