Longwood Gardens will occupy most of a day to see all the gardens and
greenhouses.  The best time to go for the
tulip bloom is in the second and
third week of April

April 1 and May 28 the flowering trees and

April 15 to 22 is considered peak bloom, but each year it varies by a week of

When to Go To Amish Penn Dutch Country:   April is a good month to visit because
you might combine your visit to Amish country with a visit to Longwood Gardens
where on the second or third week in April the tulip gardens are in full bloom.  
Otherwise May until October are good months to visit and enjoy outdoor activities.

In formal gardens throughout Longwood the flowering tulips and daffodils line the
beds and accent flowering trees and shrubs.  May first starts the flowering of
plants and trees which include Grape Hyacinth, Azaleas, columbines, the
flowering crabapple,  varieties of flowering Dogwoods, Flowering Cherry trees
and  Foxglove
Beds along the walkways are intensely planted to maximize the duration of
bloom.
You will see Irises   Japanese Flowering Dogwoods, Lilacs Peonies, Phlox,
Marigolds, and borders of  many types of Rhododendron.  Also blooming in
spring will be Trillium,  Virginia Bluebells, and Wisteria.

Reach Longwood via Route 95, the
