At the eastern end of the Cape Cod Canal, the open Atlantic
Ocean means a stop to the paved road that runs 6 plus
miles beside the canal.
A small lot near the base of the bridge and paid parking at
Scusset Beach State Park are in the north side of the east
end.
Free parking at the visitors Center and near the power plant
on the south side. Free large RV parking at visitors center
overflow parking lot beside Joe's Lobster Mart. From there
continue a quarter mile east to a sand beach.
Free parking at both sides of the canal give
good access to nearly 14 miles of paved bike
trails along the Cape Cod Canal

On the north side, paid parking at Scusset
Beach or free parking at the base of the bridge.  
On the south side,  free parking lot near the
small harbor near the power plant and at the
Visitors Center.

biking safe and fun.
Biking to
Scusset Beach
Striper fishing is popular along the Cape Cod Canal. Bikers can park at the free lots and bike to Scusset
Beach on the east end of the Cape Cod Canal. Bike stands are available. Another beach is reachable from
the visitors center on the Sandwich side of the east end. Follow the gravel path beside the canal towards the
east jetty for a sand beach and fishing from the breakwater...
Seven thousand large boats go through the
Cape Cod Canal each year. , a spectacle for
sightseers.
There is a public  fish pier at the east end of the
Cape Cod Canal on the north side
The Cape Cod canal is noted for Bluefish and
Striped Bass
Accommodation is made for big rigs at the west end, north side railroad bridge parking lot in Buzzards
Bay, at the east end visitors Center overflow parking on the South side in Sandwich, and at Scusset
Beach.
From the Cape Cod Canal Visitors Center on the south side of the east end
of the canal, a gravel road parallels the canal for less than a quarter mile and
ends at a sandy beach on Cape Cod Bay open to the public.
Bikers leave the free parking lot near the power plant in Sandwich and head west towards the Sagamore Bridge
in the distance on the south side of the Cape Cod Canal.
In the other direction, a quarter-mile gravel track east of the Visitor Center leads to a public sand beach on
Cape Cod Bay in Sandwich
Cape cod Canal Visitors Center at the east end of the canal on the south side. From here a short
gravel trail leads to a sand beach.
Route 6 A runs parallel to the Cape Cod Canal in Sandwich and along it route you find ice cream
stand and bike rentals.
The Beach at the Eastern End of the
Cape Cod Canal
Fifteen large towns and many small villages make up the sandy moraine that juts into the Atlantic Ocean 60
miles south of Boston that was named by explorers in 1607, Cape Cod, because of the abundant fish
Upper Cape: Along the Cape Cod Canal, the towns of Bourne and Sandwich define the northern limit of
the upper Cape  
Mid Cape includes Barnstable, Yarmouth and Dennis. The mid Cap is where you will find Hyannis Airport
Lower Cape includes Brewster, Harwich, and Chatham.
Outer Cape starts in Orleans and includes Eastham, Wellfleet, Truro, and Provincetown.
Getting to Cape Cod: Boston is the nearest large city to Cape Cod.
Air service reaches Boston from other major hubs and cities.
Rental cars are available at the airport.
From Boston take
Route 93 to Route 3 and after 60 miles, cross the Cape Cod Canal. Continue on
Route 6 for all locations on Cape Cod or go to Route 6A for the slower scenic route through the villages.
Routes
6 and 6A join in Orleans and go to the tip of Cape Cod.
Several small
commuter airlines serve Hyannis Airport and Provincetown Airport on Cape Cod from
Boston, Providence, and New Bedford.   Cape Air, US Airways Express, and Linear Air (Hanscom Field
Bedford Ma)
Bus service is available from Boston and from Logan Airport. Plymouth and Brockton, Logan Direct
serves Hyannis
Bonanza Bus Lines serves Bourne, Falmouth, and the Wood's Hole Ferry from Logan Airport
Passenger Boats  leave daily from Boston to the tip of Cape Cod (May -September)   at Provincetown.
Bicycles can go aboard.
A fast cat boat and a slower conventional passenger boat make trips from Boston. Bicycles permitted
A
passenger boat makes a daily run from Plymouth, MA to Provincetown.
