Zacatecas is a small city and pleasant to walk. Narrow streets and colonial buildings, museums, and
preserved colonial churches make the Centro Historico an interesting walk.
The hill to the east of the city, Cerro de la Bufa, can be reached by the Teleferico, by road, taxicab, or by the
walking trail up the west side of the hill.
A 16th Century church is at the top of the hill along with a meteorological observation building, and the Toma de
Zacatecas Museum, a display commemorating the 1914 Battle for Zacatecas during the 1810 revolution.
Zacatecas was once Mexico's richest ming town and as
such built exquisite colonial churches, convents, and
private mansions.
These buildings are now open as museums to make the
colonial City of Zacatecas a great destination for
tourism.
