bike lane, the bus service, Sun Tran provides a
bike rack on the front of the bus, and the parks
have paved bike lanes throughout; Tucson

You can bike through the city of Tucson, and
continue on into to the wild desert; you need
only go 15 miles from the modern city center to
be in the wildest and harshest of natural desert
environments or into the mountain on the
Mount Lemmon Road.

The Catalina highway takes you up to the peak
of Mount Lemmon through four zones of diverse
vegetation that change as you go from the
Saguaro cactus at the valley floor to the stately
Ponderosa pine at 10,000 feet.
A five dollar fee or National Park pass covers
the use of facilities along the way. Four
campgrounds at various elevations serve all
level of traveler for an additional fee.
The Coronado National Forest includes Mount
Lemon among 11 other mountain ranges within
1.7 million acres of public land.
Nearby, the Saguaro National Park East offers
camping on the lower elevations in a desert
environment and back country camping in the
foothills and mountains on 128 miles of trails
that traverse peaks at over 8.000 feet.
