to legend, defeated the demon that lived in the

The Castle of King Rene  (du Roi Rene)
The Castle of King Rene was built on the edge of the Rhone River in the 15th
Century.  King Rene 1409 to 1480 lived in the castle and made it a center for
the arts.
In the 18th Century the castle became a prison for British prisoners of war.
In the 19th Century the castle served as a jail and remained as such until 1926.  
In 1932 the castle was restored its Medieval condition.
