How to reach Pochutla if you choose not to go by van
Flights reach Puerto Escondido and Huatulco from Oaxaca City Airport
(OAX) and Mexico City
First class buses leave Oaxaca's first class ADO terminal on a bus route for
Huatulco, Pochutla, and Puerto Escondido, 10 hours.
Second class buses leave Oaxaca City's second class terminal for
Pochutla. Eight Hours
In Pochutla OCC Buses and Estrella Blanca Buses (Futura Bus) run bus
routes between Puerto Escondido , Pochutla, Huatulco. Estrella Blanca
Futura Bus runs a bus route from Huatulco , Pochutla Puerto Escondido to
Acapulco
Pochutla is a market and transportation town located on Route 200, the coastal
highway.
First Class Bus service from Pochutla reaches Huatulco to the southeast and
Puerto Escondido to the northwest and further northwest to Acapulco.
Second class buses run along the coast to the many small beach towns and to
Huatulco and Puerto Escondido.
Collective taxis run from the main street of Pochutla to the beach villages of
Puerto Angel, Zipolite, San Agustinillo and Mazunte. Colectivos run hourly
from Pochutla to Puerto Angel and Zipolite for 20 pesos. Camioneta run
regularly from Pochutla's main street.

Modern Vans with AC leave Oaxaca City every two hours
or so for the five hour trip to Pochutla and connections to
Zipolite, Mazunte, and Puerto Angel.
Van service with Auto Expres de Tourismo Atlantida starts
at 4:30 am and runs every 2 hours or so until 11:30 pm
Transportes Oaxaca Pacifico, Turistica Oaxaca Pacifico
runs to Pochutla at 6:15 and 10 am.
The van fare for the five-hour trip to Pochutla is 120 Pesos
There are three terminals in Oaxaca City for three different
van services to Pochutla, all located on Av. Armeneta y
Lopez, near the Red Cross building. The terminals are a
about a block apart, one block east and 4 blocks south of
the southeast corner of the Zocalo.
The terminals in Pochutla are located right on the main
street near the collective taxi stop and the main bus
terminal. One service is located inside the bus terminal
where OCC, Sur, and Estrella Blanca Buses run.
These are fairly new, air conditioned, 15-passenger vans,
some with reclining seats.
Note. The van route is over the steep southern mountains.
Some passengers experience motion sickness because
of the winding switchbacks. Several medications are
recommended by travelers. Check with the farmacias for
the over the counter medication for motion sickness, called
vértigo or mareo.
Dramamine is one medicine popular with travelers and is
effective for six hours with one pill
Van Service from Oaxaca City reaches Pochutla in five hours for connections to the beaches of
Zipolite, Mazunte, and Puerto Angel.
Three van services run many daily trips from Oaxaca City to Pochutla with 15 passenger vans,
some with AC and reclining seats.
