When you arrive in Paris as a first time visitor, the best orientation value is a two day ticket on the Batobus
Boat cruise that tours the sites of importance along the River Seine.
The two-day ticket lets you get on and off at eight docks near sites of historic importance. You can
re-board at any time at one of the eight stops.
You can walk in between stops to see places like Notre Dame Cathedral or you can stop at each dock and
visit individually, places like the Jardin des Plantes or the Hotel de Ville.
You can leave the boat to visit the Musee du Louvre or the Petit Palace, and walk along the Champs
Elysee through the Jardin des Tuileries to the Arc de Triumph.
You could then walk to the Eiffel Tower to then re-board for stops at the Musee d' Orsay, or the Institut de
France.
The boats have glass domes for protection form the rain and an outside deck for making photos of the
sights as you pass.
You will see many interesting barges, commercial and live-aboard, that use the river and canal systems to
navigate from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean.
First time visitor or Paris regular, this is one enjoyable boat ride.
