Paris Taxis Have a Fixed Price and then add extra charges for
luggage, pets, extra person beyond three etc. Prices change
depending on the day of the week and the time of day.
You can safely hail a cab in the streets of Paris.   

When the light on the roof is lit the cab is available.

Ask for the rate before entering. Rates fluctuate according
to day of the week and time of day.  

Drivers are friendly and helpful for the most part but most do
not speak English. If you have a street map and mark
your destination that will be helpful.

Extra luggage or large, heavy, or bulky luggage may cost
a little extra as will baby carriages and pets.  One Euro per
extra bag

Each person over three passengers will add 2.95 E per
person.  
Understand the rate and the extras up front and avoid

Rates per km  are from a low of just under a Euro to 1.50
Euros and depend on day of week and time of day. (6
Euros minimum)  The rates are classed A, B, and C,  C
being the highest rate,  charged Sundays from one in the
morning until seven AM.  Small lights on the roof of the cab
indicate the rate A,B, or C,

A typical (CDG) Charles De Gaulle Airport  trip to Paris will
cost between $55 to $70 USD. depending on the time of
day.

The cabs are clean and well maintained.

There are many cab companies in Paris and a reported
16000 cabs operating in the city and suburbs.
There are regular cab stands in the city or you can call a
cab by phone.  The meter starts running when the driver
receives the call.
