How to Reach New Hope and Washington Crossing PA :
By Auto: From the south take Route 95 to Baltimore, Stay on route 95 as it turns into 295 past
Philadelphia. Find the turn off near the New Jersey State line, the last exit on I-95 before crossing the
Delaware River. Head north on Route 32, River Road.
From the north,: Route I-95 to the Delaware River, the first exit in Pa on I-95. Head north on River road.

On the Road Between New Hope and Washington Crossing you will
come upon a hill and a tower of stone to the left that is located in a deep
nature preserve dedicated to wild flowers. Bowman's Hill at 380 feet
above sea level is topped by a 125 foot high stone tower built in 1933 to
honor the Colonial soldiers who used the hill as an observation post.
From the hill the Colonial soldiers could watch for the movement of British
troops during the preparation for Washington's crossing of the
Delaware.

New Hope has emerged from its
days as a canal locks and ferry
stop to a burgeoning art community
and The New Hope and Iveyland
RR steam rail line. The Michener
Art Museum, built in 1993 to honor
Bucks County resident and Pulitzer
Prize author James A. Michener is
a satellite museum for the first
Michener Museum in nearby
Doylston.
A small section of the
canal locks in New Hope

The Town of New Hope along the banks of
the Delaware River preserves its mid 1800s
look by offering steam train rides, canal boat
rides amid its and artistic gift shops and

Below Bowman's Tower, the woods and fields have been given over to wild flowers, The Wildflower Preserve.

Across the road from the parking lot for Washington Crossing's Thompson-Neely House, the woods trails within the Delaware Canal State Towpath lead to the graves of Revolutionary War soldiers.

The names of all but one of the
soldiers who died in the area
during the Winter of 1776 are
unknown. Across from the
Thompson-Neely house, the

of 23 soldiers.
The area dedicated to Soldier's
Graves can be visited if the water
levels of the river permit.
The grave sites area occupies
high ground at the river's edge
within the towpath park.
