Preseved  aqueduct near the Garden of
Roses
Morelia/ Trips to Michoacan Butterfly viewing sites:
El Rosario and Angangueo are two Michoacan Butterfly sanctuaries near enough for day trips from Morelia.  
El Rosario is near the former mining town of Zitacuaro.  
These sites are preserved and protected from commercial activities and open for tours.  The wintering area of the
Monarchs spreads over 12 mountains on the borders of Mexico State and Michoacan State.

The Chincua Preserve is 8 km northwest of Angangueo.  The El Rosario Preserve is north east of Zitacuaro and in
the municipality of Ocampo.  The sanctuaries are at nearly 10,000 feet and require some hiking ability.
