Eygalieres Provence, Hiking and Biking

It might surprise visitors that Provence offers such great hiking, biking, and
Kayaking.
July and August are high season but May, June, September, and October bring
great weather and plentiful rentals of B&Bs, vacation houses , and vacation
apartment rentals from where you can base out for hiking, biking, and culinary
adventures.
Tour groups hike from villages like Eygalieres to other villages or to vineyard farmhouses on a
vast network of trails through olive groves, vineyards, and grazing land.
Bike tours often travel the same routes used by the Tour de France racers.
Usually 8 to 10 miles separate each village making lodging while hiking or biking plentiful.
Provence is not just
about olive oil, wine, fresh fruit
and Herbes de Provence.
Hiking and biking in the
Alpilles, Luberon, Vaucluse
and Camargue deliver some
spectacular scenery.
The Tour de France goes
through the area and includes
the killer sections of Mt.
Ventoux.
For the most part, however,
the terrain is low hills through
wine and olive farms centered
by Medieval villages like
Eygalieres.
One or two main streets, a
castle at the top in varying
states of repair, coffee shops
with sidewalk dining, and a
slow pace of life suited to
people who wait for the grapes
to ripen and the olives to grow
plump.
