A good place to start a
tour of
Aix-en-Provence is at
the tourist office just off
the circle at the east
end of the Cours
Mirabeau.

Maps and other good
info that suggests
many interesting walks
and trolley circuits
through the city.  
On the south side of the Cours the
streets have a grid pattern and there
you will find the  L'Eglise St. Jean De
Malte, a 12 the century Gothic church
of the Knights of Malta.

On the north side of the Cours, the
old town with its maze of narrow
streets is much larger and its older
buildings make it a great place to
walk.

Gothic St. Sauveur Cathedral
TGV trains out of Paris Gare Lyon, (Station) reach Aix.  If coming from the south out of
Marseilles, bus service and shuttles from the Marseille airport reach the TGV station in Aix.
     Air service is available to Marseilles' Airport (MRS).  Bus service connects Aix to Arles.
Avignon, Marseilles and many smaller towns and villages
Provence, an agricultural area of Southern
France, covers Montelimar in the north to the
Mediterranean, from Nice in the southeast to
the Saintes Maries de la Mere on the Rhone
River Delta.    
Aix-en-Provence  is served by a TGV train
station with connections to Paris, (Gare
Lyon)  Marseille Nice, Toulon, Dijon, Lille,
Brussels, and Lyon..
Marseille in the south has a major airport,
train station,
rental cars and RV Rental, and
bus service. Also shuttles to Aix every half
hour.
Avignon is one of the main cities in Provence
and has a high-speed train station (TGV)  
with rental cars.
Bus service connects Aix to Avignon, Arles
Marseille, and many small villages and towns
in between
Travel To Provence  
Reach Provence by high speed roads from
Paris,    (480 miles to Marseille)
By car The A-7 to the A-8  for Aix) or by fast (3
hour) TGV trains from Paris to aix.
Ryanair out of Standsted, and Gatwick (LGW)
London reach Marseille.  ($50-$160 USD (RT)  
plus charges for luggage and other extras,
(check the long list of extras before booking) for
the one hour flight  
Avignon is one of the principle cities of
Provence and has a TGV station with rental cars
at the station. Bus service connects to Aix High
speed roads connect to Aix. The  A-7 south to
the A-8 for Aix)

Arles is another major city in Provence that has
Train Service and connections (2 hours) to Aix
via bus or highway.  TGV Trains reach nearby
Nimes from Paris.
Marseilles has a large airport north of the city
with surface transportation to Aix( Half Hour by
car)and bus service to all areas of Provence.
Shuttles from Airport (MRS) to the TGV station at
Aix.
Cassis and the coastal area east of Marseille
can be reached from Aix by bus service or auto.
Travel to Aix-en-Provence by Road , TGV Train, Bus, or Air.
 Aix-en-Provence is a great place for hiking biking or a
culinary vacation with vacation rental, gites, houses and
villas for rent.
